Fusion meets Hip Hop - thats exactly what the „Pale Male Quartet“
stands for! If Pat Metheny hung out more with the Roots or D
́ Angelo during the 90ies something similar could have happened.
After Paul Male, founder, composer and guitarist of the band, finished his jazzguitar - studies in Vienna he toured the world with international acts like James Hersey and Soia. He also works with a lot of Vienna based artists both as a guitarplayer or composer and producer. 
It`s those experiences combined with fresh eyes and ears that build the foundation of this project. 
Pale Male is a versatile project. On the one hand it describes the producer who collabs with artists mostly in the Neo soul / Hip Hop Bubble. On the other hand there is the „Pale Male Quartet“, a Jazz / Hip Hop Band that is instrumental only. On their last Album Pale Male managed to combine both worlds. 
He is backed up by three of Vienna’s finest musicians. 
Julian Berann on drums, Florian Faltner on bass and Lukas Lackner on keys. A Band that works as a team and always puts the music before ego. 
Anybody who’s interested in the current development of modern jazz music should definitely not miss this band.
